EZA is the alter ego of 22 year-old Nashville muso, Ellery Bonham. Ellery released her Means of Escape EP in 2014, and she's also a synesthesiac which she points to as having a major influence on the pulsating, technicolour nature of her music. We get a distinct air of Lorde, Tove Lo, and maybe even some Purity Ring from the less overtly hooky sections of her new song 'We Keep The Lights Out' - a sleekly executed electronic-pop number built from foundations of blurry, layered synth and fizzing drum machines. It's also Bonham's most complete vocal performance to-date, sliding from the tender pitch-shifted verses to a more confident and direct cadence over the chorus. - DC
